Two Types of Electric Bicycles

The usage of electric bicycles is increasing day by day, like the price of fuels, since electric bicycles have a lot of advantages over other types of vehicles. The working of electric bicycles is much the same way as an ordinary bicycle except that it is fitted with a small electric motor that is powered by a rechargeable battery.

Basically, electric bicycles can be of two types, pedal activated and throttle activated. As the name itself suggests, pedal activated electric bicycles are activated by pedaling and are helpful in commuting long distances and good for exercising, too. In the throttle activated type, the motor is activated by a handle bar mounted throttle. Electric bicycles are available in various styles, frame sizes, components and speed. The batteries required are also of different types like lead acid, nickel metal hydride and lithium ion battery-the choice of the battery depends upon the terrain to be used and the weight of the rider.

The most important advantage of electric bicycle is that they are almost zero emission vehicles and thus, eco friendly. They also do no emit noise and help to reduce noise pollution. The recharging of battery takes only a few hours and is affordable.

People who want to commute on a small non- polluting vehicle prefer electric bicycles. They are loved by those who wish to travel outdoors to do a little bit of exercising. Electric bicycles are also preferred to cars in the sense that the user need not search for a place to park the vehicle in the congested traffic, when shopping is done for one or two items. Electric bicycles are also used by children and students who like to go for a joy ride around the town or parks.

Normally, the speed of the electric bicycle is around 25 to 30 kilometers per hour, which is certainly faster than walking or even traveling by a car in a busy road which is fully laden with traffic. Electric bicycles can be purchased online too, from the convenience of the home. The maintenance cost of this bicycle is almost nil. There are electric bicycles that are solar charged, too.

An ordinary bicycle can also be upgraded to an electric bicycle by just fitting a motor kit that is designed for this purpose. The main purpose of fitting a motor for an electric bicycle is to preserve the energy of the cyclist, as also increase the speed of the cycle and thus make riding a convenient experience. Needless to say, electric bicycles are very efficient and useful and there is no reason why it should not be preferred to other forms of two wheelers.

Bicycles are a great way to get around and explore once you arrive at your destination with your travel

trailer. The problem is, most travel trailers have little additional room to store bicycles. So how do you transport your

bikes safely and without damaging them or travel trailer? Easy. By mounting a bike rack on your RV.
Once we have decided that mounting a bicycle rack on your RV is a great idea, we need to decide where.

The two best places to mount a bike rack are at the front of the travel trailer (on the tongue), or at the rear of the trailer

(on the frame). Why not mount the bike rack on the travel trailer’s bumper or ladder? Simple, most travel trailer

bumpers are not designed for the additional weight of bike racks and bikes. The constant bouncing and jostling around

during travel can and will weaken welds causing them to pull apart. In addition, the bikes close proximity to the real

wall of the travel trailer can cause damage to both the travel trailer and the bicycles. Here are several ways to safely

mount a bicycle rack on your travel trailer no matter which location you choose.
Frame-mount bolt-on receiver:
A frame-mount bolt-on receiver is an adjustable receiver that simply bolts onto the RV’s frame. Since it is

adjustable, it can accommodate many most frames and is much stronger than those mounted on the bumper. Installation

is mostly dependent on how the RV manufacturer mounted the rear bumper. An under-the-bumper mount is the most

common but you’ll have to make sure there is enough ground clearance. Most hitch manufacturers offer a frame

mounted receiver. You can carry two bicycles safely with this set up and not have to worry about damage.
Semi-custom Welded Receiver:
By far the strongest and better of all the options is the weld-on receiver. It is permanent and you can safely

transport more than two bicycles. You’ll need to determine how much you’ll need to carry then ask your welder to build

your hitch set up to accommodate that weight. He will probably beef up the frame area with a reinforcement plate,

usually at the attachment points. Or he may even replace your travel trailer’s bumper completely. With this set up, you

will have a very strong receiver to mount your bicycle rack. This type of semi custom fabrication will be more

expensive but if you plan on taking your bicycles with you everywhere, this is the way to go.
This bicycle rack is all one unit that you can either bolt on or weld to the frame area at the tongue of your

travel trailer. With this carrier, the two bicycles can safely be carried …

Buying A Used Rental Car From A Dealership

Rental cars are usually a safe bet when it comes to buying a used car. Yes, you still have to be careful about what you buy but a rental company takes very good care of the cars. They are properly serviced and repaired in a timely manner, inspected regularly and repaired before being offered for sale. Some that rent cars tend to be more careless than driving their own car but there are car owners who are careless driving anyways. Most rental companies keep the cars for a year or two before taking them out of service. The mileage is about 20,000 to 30,000 miles and chances are they probably still have some warranty time left on them.

Some rental companies sell their own cars. Some sell thru an independent dealership. And then there are the car dealers who regularly buy rental cars by the fleet. Buying a rental car from a dealer is like buying any other car from a dealer. If they have a certified used car program, that is toy the consumers benefit. That means the car has been thoroughly inspected and repaired as necessary and usually comes with a warranty, either dealer or manufacturer backed.

Before you buy a previously used rental car, do your homework as you would for buying any car. Look up the bluebook value of the car and compare that to the asking price. Check out the consumer reports to find out if the car you are interested in has had any recalls or reported problems.

Before buying a used car from a dealer, ask if it was a rental. Some dealers have their own fleet of rental cars for customers having their cars serviced or repaired. Some buy a fleet of rentals from rental companies for their own used car inventory. A reputable dealer will tell you if it was a rental or the ad you saw in the paper may note that.

When you go to the dealer to buy a used car, ask to see the maintenance records. Whenever I trade a car in I always leave the receipts for any oil changes, tune ups, repairs, etc., in the glove box. That way the next owner can see how well the car has been maintained. Of course, I don’t really know if that information is sold with the car or gets discarded. I have never bought a used car.

It is a good idea to have an independent third party mechanic give the car a thorough mechanical once over. They will be able to tell you the true condition of the car and make you aware of any mechanical defects it may have or if the car was previously in an accident. Any reputable car dealer will allow you to do that. If they don’t, go elsewhere for a car.

Previously used rental cars seem to have more dings and scratches than normal. If you notice such on a car you are interested in ask if they are going …

What you will use your bike for will have the greatest impact on what type you purchase. For those individuals who are looking to bicycle simply as a way of losing weight, a stationary bike may be the best bet. Stationary bikes come in both regular and recumbent (you will sit lower and put less stress on your bike) and are used indoors entirely for weight loss and exercise benefits. You can find these in a variety of prices and styles. If you aren’t sure that a stationary bike is for you, you may want to attend a spinning class at your local gym to find out if you enjoy this type of activity.
Some people will choose to use their bicycles for transportation. If this is the case, there are two types of bikes to look for. The first and most popular is a commuter bike. These bikes are strong and sturdy and often have racks to hold things. They can be found in one speed and geared models. Another bike called a folding bike, allows the rider to fold the bike for easy carrying and storage.

For people who wish to ride with small children or families, there are children’s bikes and tandem bikes. Children’s bikes are smaller in size and come in many styles.
