No new types crashed the finalists’ celebration this calendar year – semi-finalists did include the Polestar 2 and Cadillac CT4-V – but the 3 types that have manufactured it to the remaining round ended up all greatly revised and improved for the 2021 design-calendar year. Hats off to the Genesis G80, Hyundai Elantra and Nissan Sentra.
Other semi-finalists still left guiding in the dust include the reinvented Kia K5, Acura TLX and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

This is a instead eclectic affair this calendar year, as the finalists’ group incorporates an all-new electric design, an all-new luxurious SUV and a revenant crafted for serious off-roading and which arrives in two sizes. Can you guess which they are?
Congratulations to the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the Genesis GV80 and the Land Rover Defender. The 3 SUVs beat out a various contingent of types in the semi-finals phase, particularly the Maxda CX-30, reborn Toyota Venza, new Kia Seltos and revised Kia Sorento, revamped Nissan Rogue, Hyundai Santa Fe, Cadillac Escalade, Volvo XC40 Recharge and, yup, even the king of the castle in the compact SUV group, the Toyota RAV4 Primary.

There ended up but four semi-finalists in this group this calendar year, and so it was a recreation of musical chairs to see which unlucky soul would be still left out of the finalists’ trio. That doubtful honour went to the Ford Super Duty, leaving a remaining 3 consisting of the Ford F-150, Jeep Gladiator Mojave and the mad new Ram 1500 TRX.

“In this extremely complicated calendar year, these 9 vehicles emerged as our finalists out of an unusually solid area of 27 semifinalists. Just about every one of them – particularly the fifteen in the extremely-aggressive utility car group – is exceptional in approximately just about every way.”
– NACTOY president Gary Witzenburg
The organization’s jury customers, consisting of 60 automotive journalists from the U.S. and Canada, will vote for their options early in the new calendar year, and the significant winner will be declared on January eleven.
