F1 won’t cancel races, even if a driver tests for coronavirus
LONDON — Method A single races will never be canceled if a driver assessments favourable for the coronavirus or if a group withdraws, CEO Chase Carey states.
F1 would like to avoid a repeat of the year opener in Australia in March, which was canceled when the McLaren group withdrew after a personnel member tested favourable for the virus. The year is now set to begin with two races in Austria on July five and twelve.
“A group not currently being ready to race wouldn’t cancel the race. I do not think I could sit in this article and lay out the repercussions. But we will have a course of action in position that obtaining an infection will not direct to a cancellation,” Carey claimed on the F1 internet site Tuesday. “If a driver has an an infection, (groups have) reserve motorists obtainable.”
F1 groups have a harder time returning to competitors than groups in several other sporting activities mainly because of the dozens of group users who commonly vacation to a race and the regular global journeys concerned.
Carey claimed group users will be tested for the coronavirus before they depart for a race and then each and every two days. Groups will are living in a “bubble” program, most likely with “sub bubbles” to maintain persons apart if they do various positions, he additional.
“Clearly we understand our activity is just one which at times, we can not have two meters concerning each and every specific on a group,” he claimed. “When a car pulls into a pit and has to alter 4 tires, there won’t be two meters concerning each and every specific. We have to have to make sure we have techniques to control all those risks as shortly as probable.”
