This is the new Abarth 695 Esseesse. It’s a limited-edition version of the Italian brand’s compact very hot hatchback which, many thanks to some light-weight panels and some further aero, is now the swiftest model in the company’s line-up.
Production will be limited to just 1,390 illustrations, with 695 models coming in Scorpion black and 695 in Campovolo gray. Selling prices are yet to be confirmed but, like the 695 seventieth Anniversario, we’re expecting it to value in excess of £30,000.
Tweaks include things like white seventeen-inch alloys, uprated Koni FSD shock absorbers, red Brembo brake calipers and special white detailing for the front splitter and rear diffuser. There is also an Akrapovic exhaust program and a new aluminium bonnet, which save 10kg around the standard Abarth 595 Competizione.
The Abarth 695 Esseesse also options the similar manually adjustable tailgate spoiler we first saw on the 695 seventieth Anniversario. Buyers can alter the wing’s angle of assault from zero to sixty degrees, with the most aggressive placing featuring an further 42kg of downforce.
It’s run by a turbocharged 1.four-litre four-cylinder petrol motor, which develops 178bhp and 250Nm of torque. Thanks to the wright reduction the car will sprint from -62mph in six.7 seconds and attain a top pace of 140mph with the wing angle set to zero degrees. Each and every example will also arrive with a 5-pace handbook gearbox.
Abarth’s special styling touches keep on within with a pair of Sabelt bucket seats, with embroidered “one of 695” monograms on the headrests. The gear knob has also been swapped for a carbon fibre alternative, while the dashboard is trimmed in Alcantara and options a laser-slice “695 Esseesse” badge on the passenger aspect.
Abarth claims the new 695 Esseesse was motivated by the 1964 model of the similar name, which was fitted with a deal of tuning pieces built by Carlo Abarth. Like its newest grandchild, it was also a limited-edition model, with just 1,000 illustrations constructed.
The classic 695 Esseesse experienced a marginally bigger displacement motor than the standard Fiat five hundred, at 690cc. It made 37bhp and permitted the dinky city car to strike a top pace of 87mph. Straight-line pace was never the aim for the primary 695, while. In its place, the updates had been built to make the car extra exciting to push (and extra usable) on each day streets.
Alongside with the peppier motor, the primary featured flared arches, wider wheels, focused badges and an motor include which was completely preset open to supply further cooling.
