Nissan extends US production suspension | Automotive Industry News

Nissan reported it was extending manufacturing downtime for most of its production facilities in the US indefinitely.

“The company will continue to appraise the position of the COVID-19 pandemic, latest current market demand and provider readiness ahead of placing a restart date,” it reported in a assertion.

Production at Nissan’s three US crops has been suspended since twenty March in reaction to the coronavirus outbreak.

A 7 days ago the automaker introduced an extension of its “short term adjustment to manufacturing” in Thailand in reaction to the continuing COVID-19 outbreak and decreased auto demand.

The suspension of manufacturing at Plant 2 in Samut Prakan was extended from 4 May until finally 31 May 2020, whilst manufacturing at Plant one in Samut Prakan would continue to be adjusted to satisfy latest demand ranges.

Adjustments would also be made at related functions, like engine assembly and stamping.
