Renault and U.S. group Plug Power launch hydrogen power venture

PARIS — Renault and U.S. hydrogen professional Plug Electrical power introduced a joint enterprise to develop hydrogen-run light-weight commercial vehicles.

The new enterprise, named Hyvia, will be equally owned by the two businesses, Renault and Plug Electrical power mentioned in a joint statement on Thursday.

Hyvia’s activities will be carried out at present Renault services in France, with the head office and the R&D teams situated at the automaker’s light-weight commercial car or truck engineering and progress centre in Villiers-Saint-Frederic.

The process, production and logistics teams will be based mostly in Flins, in which assembly of gasoline cells and recharging stations will start by the stop of the year.

Renault at present has gasoline mobile variants of the Learn and the compact Kangoo van, with a number of hundred models of the Kangoo on the street in Europe, with a selection of about 350 km (218 miles).

The very first new vehicles from the joint enterprise will be based mostly on the Renault Learn and will be developed at the Batilly plant. The vans will have a selection of five hundred km to 600 km (310-370 miles), Renault’s head of engineering, Gilles Le Borgne, mentioned when the enterprise was introduced in January.

The joint enterprise will be chaired by David Holderbach, who the businesses mentioned has around 20 several years of knowledge in strategic, product and global revenue at Renault.
